Opening of the editorial illustration exhibition «Babalunga and Kamolongos» and announcement by the winning illustrator

Once again, within the activities of this fifth edition of «Baba Kamo. Festival i fira del llibre il·lustrat» in Valencia, we test the current state of the graphic illustration applied to the world of books and other types of publications through the works of 169 authors from 9 different countries, who have been published throughout 2022 or that, for some reason, remain unpublished.
169 illustrations selected through an international call, including the selection of the winner of this year’s edition, thanks to the invaluable work of a renowned professional jury made up of María José Hueso Sandoval (conservator of the Museu Valencià de la Il·lustració i de la Modernitat – MuVIM), Fiona Kenny (Cofounder and director of the Inkling Illustration of the United Kingdom), Carla Oliveira (editor of Orfeu Negro from Portugal), Mariana Rio (illustrator and winner of Baba Kamo 2021) and the Baba Kamo Team.
An exhobition that presents a wide range of styles, poetics, techniques and expressive resources that make up some of the fundamental features of the language of images that we often find in our favorite books. A language which, as it was and is, even now, normal, does not understand borders or passports.
